Private spirits company Bacardi announced this week that the Bacardi environment policies have been certified for following best practices for quality, environmental impact and health and safety at all of its global production facilities.
The awards made Bacardi the only major spirits company to achieve ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 for all of its production facilities worldwide.
"We are in constant pursuit of greater benefits for our consumers, customers, employees and the environment and work continuously to build trust in the company," said Bacardi president and chief executive Seamus McBride.
To implement the Bacardi environment policies, the spirits company worked with an independent third-party consultant to win its best practice certification in quality, and saw a 12 percent reduction in consumer inquiries related to packaging quality over the past three years.
In addition, Bacardi reports to have reduced its total water usage by 4 percent over the past year, and 19.3 percent over the past three years. Its energy usage fell by 6.2 percent this year, and its greenhouse gas emissions fell by 9.2 percent in the past year and 14.5 percent over the past three years. Lost time accident rates fell 63 percent over the past three and a half years.
"With these certifications, consumers can be even more confident they are enjoying the highest quality spirits brands available from a company which measurably shows it cares both about its employees and a cleaner environment," said Jon Grey, Bacardi vice president of global operations.
Bacardi is a spirits manufacturer headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda. The Bacardi Family founded in 1862 in Santiago de Cuba. Its original and flagship product is Bacardi rum. The company also offers Grey Goose vodka, Dewar’s blended scotch whiskey and Martini vermouth. Bacardi employs 6,000 workers worldwide.
