Hello, Daily Tell Readers! This is your friendly editor, Roberto Azula. First off, I want to thank everyone for their great comments, retweets, Facebook mentions, and story tips. I look forward to hearing more about how you and your community are making the world a better place.
Every November, the Movember Foundation calls on all men to grow a “mo,” or mustache. Men all over the world are growing out their mustaches to let people know that they’re part of the Movember Movement to find a cure for testicular and prostrate cancer.
This is how it works:
1. REGISTER at www.movember.com in October, and they will e-mail you everything you need to get started.
2. CREATE a new look by growing your mustache starting Movember 1st clean shaven.
3. MOTIVATE your friends and family to donate and support your growing efforts.
4. CELEBRATE your journey at the mustache themed end of Movember Gala Partè.
According to the Movember Foundation, the mustache is the “symbol by which we generate the necessary awareness and funds in order to be able to achieve this goal.” When your friend suddenly sees you sporting a mustache, a conversation will ensue about why you’re doing it. That way, you become a “walking billboard” to promote men’s health.
And guess what! Yours truly, Roberto Azula, is growing out his mustache! Now I’m generally a clean-shaven fella, but this search for the cure to cancer is important to me. I have family members and very close friends who have fought or are fighting the good fight against cancer, and this is a way to show my solidarity and support for the people I love. If you would like to donate any money to this worthy cause on my behalf, please go to http://us.movember.com/mospace/218627.
The Movember Movement has been very successful. Launched in 2003 in Australia, Movember raised $55,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia the following year. Since then, Movember has raised $47 million for cancer research and advocacy groups, such as the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Movember continues to help change established habits and attitudes to make men aware of the health risks they face. We “Mo Bros” want to increase early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment of prostrate and testicular cancer.
I urge all men to join the Movember movement and grow out your “Mo.” Every mustache makes a difference. (Or as I call it, “my ’stash.”) Let’s beat prostrate and testicular cancer together!
Kudos to you from one “Mo” brother to another.

Way to Mo, Roberto! Thanks so much for your support of Movember. A man dies of prostate cancer every 18 minutes– thank you for understanding the importance of growing the Mo. Together we can change the face of men’s health!

@Lisa is right! Way to Mo’ Roberto! So great that you’re participating, as it is for such a great cause. We’re participating by running a video contest, and thought you’d like to leverage your fundraising efforts by creating a video! Challenge your ‘competition’ or document your process. Can’t wait to see your submission! http://memelabs.com/movember Thanks – Kate
Thanks for the kind words of support. Wow, that video is nuts!! I’ll have to see if my team wants to make any video masterpieces like that, ha ha. Thanks for the great link.
