The Daily Tell

Good news in trying times.

Feed the Children has recently announced that it will be taking part in the government’s United We Serve campaign.

The campaign was launched by the Obama administration on June 22 of this year. The goal of the United We Serve is to give Americans the chance to find volunteer opportunities in their areas. In order to help with the president’s attempt to engage Americans in donating their time, Feed the Children has posted volunteer opportunities at each of its distribution centers.

Larry Jones, founder and president of Feed the Children, recently thanked President Barack Obama for launching an effort to encourage Americans to volunteer.

“We will do what we can and will work together in support of this call to action,” Jones said. “I am excited for the possibilities that this initiative will bring and encourage everyone to participate.”

Feed the Children distribution centers are located at the following locations: Elkhart, Indiana; Nashville, Tennessee; North Brunswick, New Jersey; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Ontario, Canada. The organization has also posted these sites on the United We Serve website, Serve.gov.

Citizens who are interested in taking part in the United We Serve campaign can go to the government’s site and enter their zip code in order to find volunteer opportunities. Organizations that have volunteer opportunities can also post them on the site, and people looking for ideas to start volunteer activities in their area can find them there.

The United We Serve campaign will focus on encouraging volunteerism in a number of areas, including education, health, community renewal, and energy and the environment. The Corporation for National and Community Service is leading the United We Serve campaign, which will initially run through September 11. However, there are plans to grow the program beyond that date.
