In all, $776,000 was given in grant funding to 13 health and human service organizations that work in and around Cleveland. Over its 10 years of awarding grants, the Saint Luke’s Foundation has given $65 million to a variety of organizations.

According to Denise San Antonio Zeman, president and CEO of Saint Luke’s Foundation, almost 50 requests were reviewed by the foundation, with support totals reaching $2.4 million.

‘The 13 grantees are committed to fulfilling the foundation’s mission and to strive for continuous improvement of the health and well-being of individuals and communities throughout greater Cleveland," Zeman said. "Our decisions were based on the need addressed and the capacity of the organizations to fulfill their stated objectives."

Grants were awarded to organizations for a number of purposes, including capacity, capital, operational and program support.

One noted grant recipient was the Community Assessment and Treatment Services organization, which received $30,000 in funds. The grant will be used by the service organization in order to help achieve its goal of providing intervention and prevention services for those who are chemically dependent. The organization also supports those referred to them by the justice system that have substance abuse and mental health problems.

Other organizations receiving grants included: Beech Brook; Big Brothers Big Sisters; Cleveland Foodbank; Cleveland Housing Network; Cleveland Rape Crisis Center; Community Assessment and Treatment Services; Helen Keller International/ChildSight Cleveland; Murtis H. Taylor Multi-Service Center; Northeast Ohio Neighborhood; ParkWorks; Shoes and Clothes for Kids; Voices for Ohio’s Children; and West Side Ecumenical Ministry.
